Schedule (confirmed SPOPS#2 25/01/1999) :
jan 99 : Further analysis of TAIL effects
Will be also input for the glitch working group
Statistics, tests of de-tail algorithms
feb 99 : Test glitch algorithm on SPDs basing on ideas of Laurent
Insert this ideas into IA.
may 99 : first order tail correction ??
dec 98 : paper about glitch detection for EOM report
if the statistical tail analysis gives an result another
paper is planned
ongoing : glitch/tail working group
Status (confirmed SPOPS#2 25/01/1999) :
The work on the detailing package is still ongoing but currently stalled
because
- I wait for Ekki's tail database to develope other detailing functions
- I received no further SPRs to correct or improve the glitch viewer
Status (SPOPS#2 25/01/1999) :
- IA modules inserted, demo given at SPOPS meeting, ready for
testing by other people in the consortium
- HOWTO ready, available on documentation development www page
soon.
Status (SPOPS#2 25/01/1999) :
- Different approaches are being studied in the consortium
- SPOPS #3 milestone : by then we will be able to get an
idea what works and what is not suitable to SWS data.
Status (09/04/1999) :
- Trials suggest that it is possible to correct memory effects
by applying Fouks/Schubert theory.
- Especially band 2 data show potential for significant
improvement, band 4 data more difficult to correct
- detailed report in Document archive
- Work is underway to define if and how this formalism could be
introduced in OLP.
Status (29/03/1999) :
- this work package includes the recoding and testing of decode_tdf.
The work will be picked up and I expect a first introduction of the code
into CoCo by the end of April.
- research on the dark current behaviour wrt the temperature will continue
Status (SPOPS II 25/01/1999) :
- Draft report distributed during SPOPS#2
- Report to be finalized by SPOPS#3 (12-apr-1999)
- Survey on SWS science observations organized by DL and KL
(invitation to observers on the web)
Workplan (18/09/98) :
Task: Establish a database of measured SWS instrumental profiles in the
spirit of IOCD "CAL26", and mine the database for parameters relevant for
SWS observers
Existing input:
- SWS IOCD 6.3.2.1,6.3.2.2
- Page 4-10 of "Grating instrumental profile and resolution"
by van den Ancker et al., 1.7.1997 (suggesting asymmetries and
deviations from expected resolution)
Workpackage carried out by: J. Morfill, H.Feuchtgruber, D.Lutz (MPE)
Detailed tasks:
===============
1) Design CAP and define structure to hold source parameters and
CAP results. With the exception of an initial identification of
suitable lines, the CAP should be an automatic script.
2) Establish list of suitable SWS observations and obtain relevant source
parameters. Sources should have intrinsically narrow lines, and known
spatial structure.
3) Run CAP
4) Analyse resulting database
- resolution (FHWM from gaussian fit) at different lambda for
point/extended sources, comparison with model.
- deviations from gaussian shape (e.g. implementing the traditional
astronomical width and asymmetry parameters at different heights in
the line profile)
- asymmetries in up vs. down due to memory effects
- trends with line or continuum flux?
5) Compile report
Schedule (18/09/98) :
dec 99 : further tests, statistics, software and report
Although this area and ideas are still worth to
work on, my actual work did not allow to do it.
So I try to give a realsitic deadline for real results :
- use Haser model as input for Do's algorithm !
- apply simplified model on 'off band data'
- apply new knowledge about pointing offsets
- new software
- final report
Status (09/04/1999) :
- PM Continued work on updating the documentation
- next months : knowledge transfer PM -> RS
Schedule (29/03/99) :
31/03/1999 CAL25_3D with extrapolation in leak region
15/04/1999 Insert ILT lambda cal files in CoCo (now only
available on ARC directory VILSPA), necessary
to calculate RSRF from ILT data

Schedule (18/09/98) :
on hold until SCREW on pointing improvements is implemented

DoK
Now Fortran i/o routines to be updated by BV,
interpolation in wavelength cal FORTRAN code by DOK,
IA integration by BV, pipeline integration by EkW.

containing the measurements, towards the scheduled date of
12 April (cf. SPOPS#2).
The construction of the inter/extrapolated beam profile calibration
